Welcome to the lair of the Old Gray Geek. You probably remember me, from many years ago. I’m the guy who didn’t go to the football games, unless I was playing in the marching band. I was probably in a couple of clubs that nobody heard of, like the drafting club, the Dungeons and Dragons club, chess club, or maybe the chemistry club. And I probably spent a fair bit of time in the A/V room. I wasn’t the only one like this. In fact, there were so many of us, we created our own stereotype.

Somewhere along the line, the fun and odd hobbies fell by the wayside, as I devoted my time to a family and a career. Did as well as anyone can expect. And, as happens to those of us lucky enough to make it that far, the career came to an end, and the family situation changed in ways expected and unexpected.
And so, I find myself, past the typical prime of life, but still with a fair bit of life left in me. And with both the time and inclination to revisit some of those old hobbies and interests that I left behind. I want to play music again, and play in all-night role-playing game sessions. I want to tinker with models and trains and drones. I want to go find those old comic books and science fiction novels that I enjoyed as a kid and see if they’re still as good now. And now that I’m older and presumably wiser, I’m willing to share some of the wits of bisdom and tidbits of wit I’ve been storing up through four decades of adulthood.

So, join me, won’t you? I don’t know where I’m going with this, but I’ve got some ideas.
