It should come to no surprise to anybody that, being the tech guy that I am, I have a collection of web sites that I manage. This one, of course. A couple of sites for my medieval re-creation hobby, which I’ll be writing about soon. A site for a model railroading club, because that’s the kind of geek my son is growing up to become. A site for my lady’s business. And a few others.
Now, one of the problems with maintaining multiple sites is paying for the hosting of these sites. Hosting providers are, in general, not nearly so stingy with their storage space as they used to be, but when you have a dozen web sites, its easy to hit the limits. The company I’ve used for the past 4 years decided to drop their “unlimited storage space” plan, and informed me that at my next annual renewal, I would be placed in a plan that matches my current disk usage on their servers. The resulted in a jump from about $160 per year to about $450 per year. So, it was time to start shopping.

I’ve found a new host, and I’ll be writing review on their services soon. SPOILER: it will be a positive review. They include free tools that make moving to their servers fairly simple. But it is still time-consuming, so I’m spending the next week or so on this project.
