Awww, for pity’s sake…

Well, after the fun ordeal I described with regard to transferring my sites to a new hosting service, there was still more to do. Mainly, a merchandise site that I run for a medieval re-creation group needed a complete re-work. That actually took a couple of weeks, since I had to re-create (see what I did there?) print-on-demand product listings for about 140 products.

So, two weeks ago, I have that mostly done. I go to take a look at Facebook, and I’ve been logged out. It happens. Except this time, I’m told my account is suspended. It seems that an Instagram account, which they think is linked to my FB account, has committed a violation of their rules. I don’t use Instagram. I cannot find any reference to the Instagram account they claim committed the violation. And there’s no direct support from Facebook. I submit a request for appeal, and started a new FB account for the interim.

So, I’m trying to track down folks from my friends list, groups and pages that I follow, etc. I had a page for this blog, that went down the flusher with my account. I’m just starting to get things settled down and….

My laptop died.

Actually, not the whole laptop. Just the main partition of my hard drive – the one with Windows and most of my working files. Bad geek, no cookie for me, my backups were a couple of months out of date on most topics. So, I scramble, first trying to set up an old desktop that I found for $5 at a thrift store last year, then getting and setting up one of these new little cube desktop units with solid state hard drive, no optical disk, but lots of memory and SSD storage. It’s nice. Fortunately I had most of the peripherals needed for a desktop already. So, I’m now good to go again.
